These terms cover your use of Pattern, an Android app published by Hugo Software. By installing or using the app you agree to them.
The app is free
Pattern is provided free of charge. There are no subscriptions, no in-app purchases and no advertising.
Your licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Pattern on devices you own or control. You may not resell the app, reverse-engineer it, or redistribute a modified version of it.
What you create is yours
Photos and videos you capture with Pattern belong to you. They are stored on your device; we never receive them and claim no rights over them. You are responsible for what you record and for respecting the privacy and rights of other people when you point a camera at them.
Acceptable use
Do not use Pattern to record people without their consent where the law requires it, to harass anyone, or for any unlawful purpose.
Camera permission
Pattern needs the camera permission to function as a live kaleidoscope. You can decline or revoke it at any time in Android settings; the app will fall back to a generated demo texture.
No warranty
Pattern is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every device. Rendering performance depends on your phone's GPU.
Your data is your responsibility
Captures are stored only on your device and are not backed up by us. Uninstalling the app, clearing its storage, or losing the device deletes them permanently. Export or share anything you want to keep.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Hugo Software is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app, including loss of captures or data. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
Changes
We may update the app and these terms. The current version is always published on this page with its date. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
